Trust

What do you trust? Do you get in your car and trust it will get you to work? Do you trust your alarm clock will wake you up in the morning?

Who do you trust? Do you trust your spouse? Your parents?

To fully trust someone or something we have to completely let go of our stake. If its your alarm clock, you’ve given up your stake in waking up on your own at the right time. You trust the clock will wake you. Maybe you don’t trust just one clock, and you set two or three as a backup. Either way, your trust is in the clock. If you worry all night about waking up, you won’t get any sleep. If you trust the clock, you get a good nights sleep.

Proverbs 3:5-6,11-12: trust in The Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths…do not despise the Lords instruction, my son, and do not loathe His discipline; for The Lord disciplines the one He loves, just as a father, the son he delights in.

God will show us the right things to do if we give up our ideas and turn to His. He is infinitely wiser than us, but our ego gets in the way. We think we are right all the time, as a teenager does, and refuse to listen to the ones wiser than us.

Sometimes Gods direction for us involves things we may not like, giving up something we do like, or doing something we don’t want to. These types of discipline are out of love for us. You don’t give your kid a bike helmet because they are uncomfortable, look stupid, and makes them hot…you give it to them so when they fall they don’t crack their head open. The kid may see it as an inconvenience, but the parent knows the truth. If the kid trusts the parent and not themselves, things will be better for them.

God loves us so much, lets listen to His instruction, even if it isn’t something we don’t like at the time. He ALWAYS wants the best for us.
